Covid 19 Policy
We are delighted to be able to welcome guests back to Heath Farm Holiday Cottages.
We have been very busy during lockdown doing essential and not so essential maintenance. The grounds and cottages are looking great so we do hope your upcoming break with us is everything you deserve. We’ve heightened our rigorous cleaning protocols and have also invested in additional covers for all bedding. under sheets, covers and protectors which are all washed and replaced after each guest. Likewise with any condiments, cling film, foil and any other disposables are replaced after each guest.
Book with confidence – not only are our cottages scrumptiously clean, we have totally relaxed our cancellation policy. You can cancel anytime between 56 days and 48 hours prior to the official arrival time and you will get a 100% refund on your booking!
Have your cake and eat it – We supply you with a delicious cake from Cotwsold baking who are based here at the farm. We’d usually allow you to swap cakes whilst here but to avoid returns please let us know in advance. There’s 5 flavours to choose. Please email us your 1st and 2nd choice of flavours. You can choose from gluten free flavours such as Tunisian orange and almond, carrot and cardamom or courgette & coconut. There’s also chocolate & beetroot, ginger or lemon drizzle. Additional cakes can be ordered up at any time before or during your stay at a charge of £6 each.
However, the Government is only allowing accommodation businesses to re-open subject to certain conditions being met. We have been issued with protocols that outline new cleaning and safety requirements. These are to ensure your safety, and that of our staff, and our family. It will, however, mean that things are slightly different from usual, and we will be asking for your cooperation with a few things.
Names and amendments – we need the names of all guests who will be staying as part of your booking. We also need to know if they are an adult, child or infant. If you need to adjust your booking arrangements for things such as non feathered bedding, infant equipment or other special requirements please let us know. All notes we have so far will are shown on the booking summary.
Cleaning will take extra time – because of the Covid-19 risk, we now have to “double clean” – first our usual high level cleaning, and then going over everything again with a virucidal sanitiser. We also have to change PPE between each room. This means that we need extra time for each changeover, so arrival and departure times will now be 5pm arrival (rather than 4pm), and 9.30 am departure (rather than the usual 10am). We understand it is inconvenient, but it is really important that you allow us this extra time to ensure your safety.
Septic Tank – Please DO NOT use bleach or anti-bacterial products in the property, as they will upset the septic tank. The cleaning materials supplied are eco-friendly, and we have supplied you with antiseptic wipes for disinfecting surfaces without upsetting the water treatment system.
Some things may be missing or bagged– to reduce the risk of touch contamination, we have been advised to remove as much as possible from the cottages. This means that decorative cushions and throws, ornaments, paper information leaflets, toys, games, etc have been kept to a minimum. We have also reduced the quantity of some kitchen equipment, as the requirement to rewash every item between guests (even if it is clean) would not be possible in the time with the usual quantities. Spare blankets, picnic hampers and other items may be in vacuum sealed bags in the cottage. You’re welcome to use them but leave them out on view when you leave so we know to clean and replace them for teh next guests.
Please Strip your Beds before leaving – Not glamorous, on the last day of your holiday, we know. However, as 7/10 people who have had the antibody test did not have any symptoms, the Government is advising we have to assume that someone in your party COULD be carrying the virus. The main route for contracting the virus is airborne, and it is considered that removing bedding could make the virus airborne, which is why they advise asking guests to strip the beds themselves. We will provide bin bags for bedding plus another bag for dishcloths, sponges, oven gloves, sponges and any other fabric items. There will also be a bag for all towels.
Please empty all bins (including bathroom bins) and put into the outside bins. There are separate bins for recycling, bottles, food waste (no packaging!) and general waste. These are located under the building opposite the laundry room (be careful of the low ceiling!)
Please fill the dishwasher with a full load of crockery and cutlery and set it running before leaving (do not empty it). We are now required to re-wash everything between guests, so it would help hugely if you could put all plates, cutlery, cups etc in the dishwasher before leaving, not just your breakfast things. Dishwashing tablets are located in bin cupboard under most sinks. Please open windows and leave them open on the catch – This will really help clear the air ready for our housekeepers.
Communal Areas – Please note that the games room is closed for general use. It can be pre-booked for your exclusive use for your stay but there will be an additional £35 cleaning charge. All communal areas like drying room, bike shed, games shed (by croquet/games lawn) and laundry all have antiviral gel dispensers. Please use before entering any of these areas. The laundry room will only be available to guests between 5pm – 10pm. There will be clearly marked signs showing which machines can be used by guests.
PPE – We have good stocks of all PPE and will provide a small sealed bag with masks, shoe covers and gloves. Let us know if you need more whilst staying with us. We have installed dispensers outside each cottage so that before you enter you can ensure your hands are sanitised. We will also have floor mats outside each cottage which will be regularly soaked in disinfectant.
Other guests and us – Please be respectful to others and keep everyone safe by respecting each other’s social distance and wiping down any equipment you may use whilst staying at Heath Farm particularly in the games shed (wipes and antiviral spray provided).
Reception – Please note that the reception is part of David & Nena’s home and they are now in their late 70’s. For this reason we ask that all communication is done either by phone or email where possible whilst you are here. If you need to see someone please just ring the outside bell and do not actually enter the reception.
If you develop symptoms – we sincerely hope that you will have a happy and healthy holiday. However, should a member of your party develop symptoms during your stay at Heath Farm, the Government advice is to return to your primary residence, and self-isolate there for a period of 7 days (14 days for the other group members). Please let us know if you develop symptoms, as the cleaning protocols for the cottages will need to be increased.
We hope that you will have a fabulous holiday. The “new normal” may be slightly different than what we are all used to, but it is great to be able to get away again, and if we all take responsibility for minimising risk, then hopefully we won’t get locked down again!
