The Duck on the Pond is a delightful Public House & Restaurant which is situated in the picturesque village of South Newington located on the A361 Banbury to Chipping Norton Road. It has been lovingly restored to a very high standard, whilst still retaining many of its original features such as oak beams and the bread oven found hidden behind the large open fire.

North Oxfordshire CAMRA Pub of the Year 2013. The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s. Serving up great drinks, fine food with pride, passion and personality. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere.

The Bar at the George is traditionally English and frequented by locals and visitors. It’s a place where farmers meet and walkers recover. You will meet all types here. There is a regular selection of ales from the local Hooky brewery, an inglenook fireplace, stone mullion windows and some historic panels. There is even a suit of armour in the corner – which is known as George. The room dates before 1350 when the stonemasons who built the church were housed at the inn.
